Demo Musings

Poem Thumbnail

All of the components, materials, and parts
become a formidable creature, alive when it starts.
The sole purpose of this contraption, despite what people say,
is, like any car, to get from point B to point A.

How similar we are to those heaps on the track,
a single failure and there’s no coming back.
Call me demo batty or disturbingly profound,
but somewhere in this mess, meaning can be found.

If one thing fails during our time of need,
ending up in the bone yard is a done deed.
Like these cars in their world of grease and grime,
we need to make the most of our remaining time.

Life is a demolition derby, it’s a one-time test drive
to see who can go the longest, and ultimately survive  .
Make the best of this heat while we’re still around,
strong body, clear vision, wheels firmly on ground.
