Empty Shelves

Poem Thumbnail

Last time I got groceries, some shelves were quite bare;
  it’s much easier to decide when there’s not as much there.
The produce looked great, complete with limes good and sour,
  but you can imagine my dismay at their total lack of flour!

Rather than panicking, I went to another store instead,
  the near-empty shelves there struck me with dread.
Then I spotted a sack, one of the last ones!
Returned home promptly and baked some fresh buns.

To parents who are able, it’s time, for heaven’s sake,
  to bake buns with your kids, or an upside-down pineapple cake.
It’s obvious that others have had this train of thought before,
  as evidenced by the total lack of baking supplies in the store.

My limes are still fresh, and the fresh water is still flowing.
Compared with many in this world, my situation is glowing.
May your debit card treat you kindly when you give it a swipe.
And, may your supplies be adequate when it's time for a wipe.
