A Funny Thing Worth It Magic Mystery Last Time Blue
Recipe for a Fall Classic
For a perfect pick-me-up, quick and tender, you can’t beat the nourishment of a classic Fall Splendor. Splendors come in a variety of flavors and forms, like hash, or hot dishes, there are no rules or norms.
And on cold Winter days, when the doldrums arrive popping a few Splendors helps one to survive. It’s worth the extra effort to make one from scratch, and the following is my recipe to whip up a batch.
Ingredients: Start with a wisp of frost from the neighbor’s roof-top and add every fall sunset which has a red backdrop.
Take the dried flower stalks, who's prime has passed and a slap of North wind with a pre-winter blast. Include that one and only early-fall shiver, and a scoop of morning mist from down by the river. Fold in that last weekend spent out of town, with the leaves in glory, red, yellow and brown. Add two dozen rays of slanting autumn sun and at least one evening of campfire fun. Mix in the entire blue sky above crunchy ground with the mysterious Northern Lights, if they can be found.
Remember to include sights, not actually seen, like yipping coyotes in a nearby ravine.
After gathering the ingredients, bring them all together while everything is in its’ prime. Then, we’ll let our Splendor ferment a bit in a quiet part of the mind.
It’s sad to think of how quickly Splendors disappear and end up in a dark corner of the pantry co-mingling with all of the other Splendors. And all too soon, they get crowded out by new ones.
But funny thing is, when I find a bit of this one next Winter while picking through the scraps in despair, it will take but a morsel to satiate and tonight’s magic will still be there.
Enough small talk, our dish is done, the moment has arrived to indulge. Gnaw, nibble, bite and heartily feast; eat, until eyes start to bulge.
So that’s my recipe, in a nutshell; can’t recall the last time one turned out so well. I hope you’ve enjoyed this Splendor tonight, for me, it has been a splendid delight!
