Grandpa wishes he were a little tike,
  so that we could grow up together.
We’d get wet in puddles, learn to ride a bike, 
  hold hands and skip like a feather.

But Gramps will never again be two,
  so these are Grandfather’s wishes for you:
I wish you a family, with clear bright eyes,
  who listen attentively to your needs and cries.

I wish you to grow well, vibrant and strong,
  to thrive in good health, live nice and long.
I wish there to be nothing that you can’t do,
  as you find your place in this zoo.

Know that my wish, before you are born,
  whether you’re a granddaughter or grandson:
Is to spoil you badly and truly adorn,
  for my Grandbaby, you’re my very first one!

But today, Grandbaby, my number one wish,
  at the wedding of your mom and dad:
Is for you to know how proud Grandpa is
  and thrilled to be a new Grandad!
