To Jordy on Your Big Oh-One!

Poem Thumbnail

To a one-year-old with something to prove,
with nowhere to go but always on the move.
And, although you can’t talk and sleep in a cage,
life is quite good for somebody your age.
You can stuff fingers in your mouth, wild and free,
so naturally with much joyful glee,

It’s okay to be messy, we all make a mess,
Grandpa has made his share, he must confess.
So, go ahead and toot and play with your food,
leave a trail of destruction if you’re in the mood.
Do it now before it’s seen as silly or rude,
do it now ‘cause you can, you lucky little dude.

You’ll not remember your first birthday fun,
nor this note for you on your big oh-one.
Just pictures of you sticking out your tongue,
with your mom and dad, when they were so young.
And when you grow up, I’ll tell you first hand,
your oh-one was great, as a babyyou were grand!

Hooray for Jordy, a super grandson!
Hooray for Jordy, for hitting the big oh-one!

Love,

Grandpa Zeller
