The Challenge
It does no good to panic or fly off in rage
when the zookeeper tells me to stay in my cage.
It’s the right thing for society, this much is true,
and like everybody else, I’ve not much else to do.
A new virus is disrupting, eerily and abrupt.
Wondering what to do while we’re all are cooped up.
For starters, I can go for long walks or run for miles.
From six feet away, I can greet neighbors with smiles.

We’ve a comfortable nest, I’m lucky to say,
and I’ve grown fond of communicating this way.
The world is so different, but my profile’s the same,
writing is my attempt to stay relevant and sane.
So, Dear Reader, my goal during this mass quarantine
is to post a poem a day and help boost our collective esteem.
I don’t care if some poems drone or others are sappy;
if one person finds a silver lining, it will make me happy.
